Be Empowered for the Gospel

The world will tell us all kinds of things about who we are to be as women.  People say that we don’t need men and that the future is female.  Female empowerment is something that when taken to the extreme can be very damaging to how we see ourselves and others as daughters of the King.  When we are empowered by anything that is not based in our identity in Christ, it will start to attack who we are as children of God and how He designed us.

God has a habit of using both men and women to complete tasks for His kingdom.  The world tries to tell us that we don’t need men, that we are better than they are, and that women can be empowered by what they feel like they are worth.  In Genesis, God created man and woman in His image to be helpers for each other and to further His kingdom.  The original design for man and woman was to be working hand in hand for the Lord.  The world tries to tell us something different than how the Lord designed us to work alongside men.  I think that the Lord has specific purposes for women because we are built for different tasks, but when it comes down to it both men and women are children of God and we are all found equal in His eyes.

Our worth as women isn’t found in what we look like, how popular we are, or by the status we hold.  We are defined by our Heavenly Father.  He makes us worthy because we are unworthy without Christ (Galatians 3:26).  We can be empowered because we are beloved daughters of the King who are here for a purpose (Ephesians 1: 3-7, 2:10).  We are God’s handiwork on display and we have the ability to help bring others to Him.  We should not be empowered by what the world deems as good and acceptable.

We can be empowered by looking at how the Lord uses broken people to grow and mature believers.  God uses both men and women to accomplish His will. Throughout the Bible, God uses men and women to bring the good news to others, save their people, and to bring the Savior into the world. The Lord designed both male and female to work together.  We are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image (Psalm 139:14, Genesis 1:26).

Our identity in Christ should unite brothers and sisters together so that we can work together for the Kingdom.  God does not call us to disunity with fellow believers, belittling others, or elevating ourselves above other people.  We are called to unity and to be zealous for the Gospel.  Female empowerment is toxic when it is defined by the world’s standards, but when we look at God’s word and what it says about us as women we can be empowered by what the Lord says is our true identity.  We are beloved children of the Highest King and that should be the most empowering title we have (John 1:12).  I challenge you to be empowered for the Gospel and not for what the world says.

Beloved you are truly loved by the King
