Spiritual Warfare is no joke especially when we aren’t prepared for battle.
The last three years of my life have taught me that it is so important to visit the armory daily so that we are prepared to fight the good fight. When we break down the definition of armory it means a supply of arms or defense or attack. In Ephesians 6: 10-20 the garments for battle that are contained in God’s armory are listed.
“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”
We are called to be warriors for the Kingdom and to stand firm when in battle(2 Chronicles 20:17). The ultimate victory has been won through Christ, but the devil still likes to play with our minds and make us feel like we are less than and undeserving. All the garments listed above have a purpose. They are there so we know that we need to be clothed in truth, righteousness, readiness, faith, and salvation by the Holy Spirit. All of these aspects are found in Christ. It is so important to spend time with Him daily so that He can clothe us with the armor of God. With these characteristics found in God, we have an easier time fighting the words and lies the devil will feed us. We can then replace the lies with the truth and peace of the gospel. We are warriors for the Kingdom and that scares the devil and he will do anything to make sure we do not succeed.
When we visit the armory by spending time with God we are allowing Him to provide armor and show us the battle formations plans that will help us put up the best defense against the devil and his attacks. We need to be prepared so I encourage you to visit the armory of God daily and allow Him to prep you for battle.
